Hoopers is an agility based sport, that is low impact and great fun. The handler directs their dog around a course made up of a combination of hoops, barrels and tunnels.
Hoopers can be practiced at home, in the garden, at the park or in training classes. This growing sport gives your dog a physical and mental workout, developing teamwork skills and encouraging your dog to listen to you. Hoopers is suitable for most dogs and handlers as long as they are healthy because there is no jumping involved.
Hoopers courses are exciting and flowing but do not contain any of the tight turns or high impact equipment found in agility making it safer for dogs of all ages to participate in. In addition to this the equipment is easily accessible which means you can easily build your mini courses at home and practise the skills learned at class during the week.
Classes are run outside in our Brize Norton outdoor training venue. The venue allows us to give the dogs plenty of space and work within their comfort zones and also replicate real life distractions. Classes last an hour and are limited to 6 handler teams to ensure that you and your dog get individual attention and feedback throughout the course.
Our training is based on positive, modern principles focusing on the human and dog relationship and bond. We will cover the theory of how dogs learn based on scientific principles This aims to give you a better understanding of positive reinforcement methods and how you can teach your dog complex and exciting new skills.
Once your dog has completed this class we will aim at having continuation classes to further develop your skills if you have caught the Hoopers bug.
